Range hood filters are another
decision point when considering a new kitchen range hood during
renovation or new installation in your kitchen.
There are various filter options to consider when buying a
new kitchen range hood. If you install a ductless filter
system, then your fan will probably have a charcoal filter to
clean the air of odors and a mesh aluminum filter to catch
grease and dust from the air. The charcoal filters should be
changed every 6 to 9 months to keep your system working well.
Charcoal filters can only trap some of the grease and odors
from cooking, but the steam and smoke and heat will all
recirculate into your kitchen.
The best solution is the ducted system which carries all of
this dirty air out of the house. Pro-Style range hoods contain
baffle filters which are designed to operate longer in heavy
greasy cooking conditions. These baffles need to be monitored
and washed with soap and water then they become sticky.
If your kitchen has a lot of broiling or frying in oil,
these filters need to be checked regularly and either cleaned
or replaced to keep your kitchen range hood
filters performing to specifications.
